Tiaro Memorial Park – Tiaro QLD Free Camp

Tiaro Memorial Park is an outstanding free camp that serves as a perfect example of a small town welcoming the travelling community with open arms. Located right in the heart of the charming Fraser Coast hinterland town of Tiaro, this designated 20-hour rest area is situated on the banks of the beautiful Mary River. Its prime location combines the convenience of town facilities with a peaceful, park-like setting. The camping area is a spacious, grassy, and level field, providing ample room for a good number of self-contained vehicles, from large motorhomes to smaller campervans. It’s an incredibly popular stop for those travelling the Bruce Highway, offering a safe and comfortable place to rest and break up the journey between Brisbane and Rockhampton.

What truly sets Tiaro Memorial Park apart is the exceptional quality and range of its facilities, which are rare for a free camp. The site boasts a clean and well-maintained amenities block with flushing toilets and, most notably, free hot showers. Alongside this, there is a dedicated dump point and access to potable water, allowing travellers to completely refresh and restock before hitting the road again. The park itself is beautifully kept, with sheltered picnic tables and rubbish bins. Being in the centre of town means everything is within a very short walking distance. You can easily stroll to the local pubs for a meal, visit the craft and antique shops, or grab supplies from the general store. The Mary River provides a lovely backdrop and is home to the rare Mary River Turtle. For its unbeatable location and excellent amenities, Tiaro Memorial Park is one of the best and most popular short-stay free camps in Queensland.
