North Head Campground – Murramarang National Park, Batemans Bay
North Head campground offers the quintessential Australian beach camping experience, perfectly blending a stunning natural setting with fantastic family-friendly facilities. Located in the magnificent Murramarang National Park, just north of Batemans Bay, this hugely popular campground is set in a beautiful, grassy clearing surrounded by towering gum trees and banksias. It’s famous for its abundant and incredibly tame resident wildlife, with large mobs of kangaroos and goannas regularly making themselves at home amongst the campsites, providing an unforgettable up-close encounter with nature for visitors of all ages.
The campground is just a very short stroll from the beautiful and sheltered Honeysuckle Beach, a perfect spot for swimming, snorkelling, and for children to play safely in the calm waters. A walking track also leads to the more exposed surf of Myrtle Beach. The facilities at North Head are a major drawcard, with the park providing modern amenity blocks that include the welcome luxury of hot showers and flush toilets, making for a very comfortable stay. The spacious, unpowered sites are suitable for tents, camper trailers, and caravans, and bookings are absolutely essential, often months in advance for peak periods. The campground is also a fantastic base for exploring the wider park, with a number of scenic walking tracks starting nearby, including the track to the Oaky Beach Aboriginal Area. For a memorable, comfortable, and wildlife-rich coastal holiday, North Head is one of the premier destinations on the NSW South Coast.
