Davies Beach is a highly regarded free camping area located within the Cobram Regional Park on the Victorian banks of the Murray River. Situated just a few kilometres west of the Cobram town centre, it offers a fantastic blend of accessibility and natural beauty. The site is famous for its expansive sandy beach, which is one of the best in the area for swimming and launching small boats, making it a magnet for families and water sports enthusiasts during the warmer months.

The camping area is set amongst a mix of open grassy spaces and shaded areas under the canopy of River Red Gums. This layout makes it particularly suitable for larger groups or those with big caravans, as there is ample room to maneuver and set up camp without being on top of your neighbours. The dispersed nature of the sites allows you to choose between a riverfront position for immediate water access or a spot further back in the bush for wind protection and privacy.

As a designated bush camping site managed by Parks Victoria, Davies Beach has no facilities. There are no toilets, showers, or tap water available on-site. Visitors must be completely self-sufficient, bringing their own portable toilet, water, and power supplies. This self-reliance helps maintain the serene environment and reduces the impact on the park. Access is via River Road and unsealed tracks which are generally well-maintained, allowing for 2WD access in dry conditions, though care should be taken after rain.

Despite its bush setting, Davies Beach is incredibly convenient. You are less than a 10-minute drive from the heart of Cobram, where you can find supermarkets, pubs, and cafes. Whether you are looking to catch a Murray Cod, enjoy a paddle at sunset, or simply relax by a campfire, Davies Beach offers a quintessential Murray River camping experience with the bonus of a beautiful sandy shoreline.

Site Information

Location: Situated on the Victorian bank of the Murray River, approximately 5km west of the Cobram town centre. It is downstream from the main bridge.
Site Suitable For: Big rigs, caravans, motorhomes, camper trailers, and tents. Spacious areas available.
Road Access: Unsealed access via River Road. Tracks are generally hard-packed and suitable for 2WD in dry weather. Caution: Tracks turn to slippery clay mud after rain; 4WD recommended in wet conditions.
Site Surface: Natural bush ground, compacted dirt, and large sandy beach areas.
