Boundary Falls Campground | Free Camping near Gibraltar Range NP

Nestled on the edge of the World Heritage-listed wilderness of the Gibraltar Range, Boundary Falls campground offers a spectacular and serene free camping experience. This picturesque spot, located in a State Conservation Area, is a true gem for self-sufficient nature lovers. The campground is a beautiful, open grassy area fringed by tall eucalypt forest, providing a peaceful and spacious setting for tents, camper trailers, and small caravans. The main attraction is just a short stroll away: the magnificent Boundary Falls. A walking track leads you to a lookout platform offering breathtaking views as Boundary Creek plunges dramatically over a sheer rock face into the valley below. While swimming is not permitted at the base of the main falls for cultural reasons, a second walking track takes you upstream to the delightful Upper Boundary Falls. Here, you’ll find a series of cascades and a stunning, deep swimming hole with crystal-clear water, perfect for a refreshing dip on a warm day. The campground itself is well-equipped with basic facilities, including non-flush toilets, picnic tables, and wood barbecues, ensuring a comfortable base for your stay. As it is a remote location, campers must be completely self-sufficient, bringing all their own drinking water, firewood, and supplies. Remember to take all your rubbish with you to help preserve this pristine environment. The campground’s strategic location makes it an ideal base for exploring the incredible network of walking tracks, lookouts, and granite formations of the adjacent Gibraltar Range and Washpool National Parks. Access is via unsealed roads, which are generally manageable for 2WD vehicles in dry weather, but conditions can change, so it’s always wise to check ahead. For a tranquil escape surrounded by dramatic landscapes and the soothing sound of waterfalls, Boundary Falls is an unforgettable destination.
