Burke and Wills Roadhouse Caravan Park, Four Ways QLD

In the vast expanse of North West Queensland’s Gulf Country, the Burke and Wills Roadhouse stands as a true outback oasis, and its adjoining caravan park is a welcome sight for weary travellers. Located at the critical junction known as the ‘Four Ways’—where the Wills Developmental Road meets the Burke Developmental Road—this is more than just a place to rest; it’s an essential hub for fuel, food, and information in a remote and captivating part of Australia. For those journeying between Cloncurry, Normanton, and the world-heritage wonders of Boodjamulla (Lawn Hill) National Park, a stop here is almost mandatory, providing a vital link in the great outback road trip network.

The caravan park itself offers a practical and friendly base to recharge. It features a range of powered and unpowered sites, suitable for everything from big rigs and caravans to camper trailers and swags. The ground is typically outback earth and gravel, but the amenities are clean and reliable, offering hot showers and laundry facilities that are much appreciated after days on dusty roads. As part of the roadhouse complex, guests have immediate access to the licensed bar and restaurant, serving hearty meals and cold drinks, which foster a great sense of community among fellow travellers sharing stories of their adventures. The pet-friendly policy also makes it a convenient stop for those travelling with their four-legged friends.

Its strategic location is its greatest drawcard. The park serves as a popular launching point for trips to the stunning gorges and emerald waters of Boodjamulla (Lawn Hill) and the lush paradise of Adel’s Grove. It’s also the gateway to the Riversleigh Fossil Fields, offering a glimpse into Australia’s prehistoric past. Whether you’re staying for a night to break up a long journey or for a few days to explore the region’s incredible natural attractions, the Burke and Wills Caravan Park provides the essential services and classic outback hospitality that define a memorable Gulf Country experience.
