Zinettis Beach Number One – A Tranquil Escape in Yarrawonga Regional Park

Zinettis Beach Number One

A Tranquil Escape in Yarrawonga Regional Park

Zinettis Beach Number One (also widely known as Zanettis Beach) is a hidden gem located within the Yarrawonga Regional Park, offering a peaceful bush camping experience on the Victorian banks of the Murray River. Situated approximately 8 kilometres west of the bustling tourist town of Yarrawonga, this site provides a perfect antidote to the busy holiday parks, allowing campers to immerse themselves in the quiet beauty of the River Red Gum forest. The beach itself is a highlight, featuring a gentle sandy slope into the water that is ideal for swimming, launching canoes, or simply watching the river flow by.

The camping area is dispersed and informal, typical of the river reserves in this region. There are no marked sites, so you can choose a spot that suits your needs, whether that’s close to the water’s edge or nestled back amongst the trees for wind protection. The ground is a mix of compacted earth and leaf litter, generally flat and suitable for tents, camper trailers, and off-road caravans. While the site feels secluded, access is relatively straightforward via forest tracks, although these can become challenging after rain.

It is important for visitors to be aware that Zinettis Beach Number One is a designated “bush camp” with zero facilities. There are no toilets, showers, or tap water available on-site. Campers must be completely self-sufficient, bringing their own portable toilet and taking all rubbish with them when they leave. This ensures the preservation of the delicate river ecosystem. Additionally, unlike some neighbouring beaches, specific regulations for this site often prohibit dogs, so it is crucial to check current signage upon entry or consult Parks Victoria to avoid fines.

Despite its “off-grid” nature, the campsite is conveniently located near the twin towns of Yarrawonga and Mulwala. A short 10-minute drive will have you back in civilisation, where you can enjoy a meal at a lakeside club, stock up on supplies, or explore local attractions like the Yarrawonga Weir. Whether you are a solo traveller seeking solitude or a group looking for a quiet river bend to call home for a few days, Zinettis Beach Number One offers an authentic and relaxing Murray River experience.
